3 ways to keep your love flame burning for a long time

Many believe love is a feeling. But that’s not true. Love is only capable of creating feelings. This is because feelings can change, but true love does not.

Love is a very strong emotional and mental disposition towards someone or something. Love alters the way everyone in its grip acts and behaves.

Love is one of the most powerful forces on earth. True love is rare and should be appreciated wholeheartedly. So we need to do all we must to keep a genuine love flame burning. This is because it takes more than just “I love you” and or even “I love you too” to sustain a great relationship or marriage.

Three things you should note and be deliberate about when in love:

1. COMMUNICATION: It is expected that love in its bloom makes one get so attached to the person, and when apart you often would want to call and text. But please ask them if they feel comfortable being called and checked on regularly.

Some people feel choked with regular calls and messages. While others feel loved to the extent of how often you communicate with them, especially in a long-distance relationship; it reassures them and makes them open, honest, and trust you more.

Communication helps to build and reinforce the trust circle and connects you deeply especially when apart.

2. NO SECRETS: Avoid keeping secrets, especially ones that when they come to light would end your relationship or marriage. You can’t be on your toes in a relationship that you hope to keep forever!. Forever is too long to remember lies exactly and omit important details that can ruin your relationship.

That fling with their boss or best friend before you met them, the abortion, the child(ren) from your previous relationship, the chronic health issues, etc., should be brought to the table. You can never guess the power of two persons in love, to find lasting and easy solutions to issues.

3. FINANCE: Money tops the list of what destroys beautiful relationships and marriages, well, besides domestic violence, infidelity and others.

No one should be solely responsible for running the home. No, that is too much weight and your partner should know you can cover up for him or her if he or she becomes unemployed, falls ill, or simply if the person doesn’t have to begin with.

Partners need to have a source of income and savings, then deal with the bills together. It may not necessarily be in the same ratio (say 50:50), but everyone should be financially responsible. It fuels the flames of love, creates more respect, and establishes a very deep and lasting connection.
