Comr. Johnny S. Jonathan, the immediate past president of the Ogbia Brotherhood Youth Council (OBYC) has announced his resignation as chairman of the Board of Trustees of the foremost Bayelsa youth body.
In a letter addressed to the OBYC National Congress on Tuesday, Jonathan noted his resignation will take effect from 30th June, 2025.
He said the three months notice is to enable the youth body to find his replacement as well as to take other necessary actions.
Jonathan cited age limit as well as the need to give others the chance to lead as his cardinal reasons for his decision.
“It has been my delight to serve the OBYC, as a founding member with well over 15 years active experience. I am proud of the contributions I have made and services rendered during my membership/leadership period.
“I wish the Ogbia Brotherhood Youth Council a continued success now and in the future,” the letter partly read.
Meanwhile, his shocking resignation has been cheered by some Facebook users, including Dr. Moses Dickson who is a brother to former Bayelsa Governor, Chief Seriake Dickson.
“This singular act of self awareness, respect for rules and penchant to allow others “learn and grow” will be remembered. I admire this,” he stated.
Another user, Mr. Nelson Ademe, wrote that “Self-consciousness and awareness are fundamental keys to personal growth and development in a society.
“Thank you so much for your leadership, you’ve written your name in gold. Congratulations.”
