Newly-elected Ogbia youth President, Mipuru, pledges inclusiveness

Comr. Mipuru Joe Akaragha, President-elect of the Ogbia Brotherhood Youth Council (OBYC) Worldwide, has pledged to run an all-inclusive government following his election.

Mipuru in a statement he signed and made available to newsmen on Monday after his election said his emergence as OBYC president is a victory for all.

While he expressed gratitude for being given the privilege to lead the youth body, Mipuru also promised to give his utmost best services to the youths of Ogbia kingdom throughout his reign.

He said, “From the bottom of my heart, I say thank you to you all for the confidence reposed in me. The journey to the widely celebrated victory will not be a smooth one if I were to walk it alone.

“My victory at yesterday’s Delegate Elective Congress of the Ogbia Brotherhood Youth Council is not a victory for a sectional group of people but a victory for all.

“Now it is time to bind the wounds of our divisions and get back together as one united people with a common ancestry. I am reaching out to you for your guidance and help so that we can work together and unify our great people.

“I pledge to every youth of Ogbia Kingdom that I will give you my utmost service and be a National President for all Ogbia People especially the youth community—my primary constituency, and this is so important to me.

“Through your continued and unbending support, constructive criticisms and encouragement, we shall continue to pursue the vision of our dear Kingdom which is founded on shared hope and progress and nurtured by the ideals of love, unity, social justice, peace and tolerance.”

He commended the outgoing President, Ambassador Johnny S. Jonathan, and his entire executives for their “tremendous initiatives and work.”

Mipuru promised that the incoming NEC will not only sustain the existing standard in the Council but also advance it.

He thanked the Obanobhan of Ogbia Kingdom, HRM King Dumaro Charles Owaba, and the leadership of Ogbia Brotherhood for their moral support and participation.

He also expressed gratitude to the Bayelsa State Government for its support through the Ministry of Youth development and Centre for Youth Development.

He equally lauded the electoral committee of OBYC for coordinating what he adjudged to be a free, fair and credible election as well as other aspirants for their camaraderie during and after the election.

The newly-elected OBYC president further called for oneness amongst all youths of Ogbia kingdom worldwide, stressing that without unity and support for his leadership, his reign will achieve little or nothing.

“Finally, I wish to call on all the youths of Ogbia Kingdom regardless of political party affiliations and persuasions to come together and stand shoulder to shoulder to redefine and reshape our reality.

“If we must widen opportunities for our young people then we must always be ready and willing to work and build together.

“The incoming leadership of Council would achieve very little or nothing without reinventing our oneness (our most reliable bargaining tool) and having a collective sense of purpose.

“Let us journey together to show forth our ingenuity and uniqueness of positive exceptionality,” he stated.
