Yenagoa—Chief Timipre Sylva, immediate past Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, has expressed shock and sadness over the passing of the former acting governor of the state, Nestor Binabo.
In a statement sent to journalists, Sylva described the loss as colossal, adding that the deceased left positive marks in the development of Bayelsa.
Sylva further commiserated with the family of the late politician, urging them to be consoled by the fact that their patriarch “blessed society positively and gave a noble account of himself.”
Sylva who is the Bayelsa State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming Bayelsa guber election stated that “We have lost one of our titans, and while we are stunned, pained, and thrown in utter helplessness we believe that God makes these decisions
“He left positive marks in the politics of our state, in governance and, ultimately, in the development of The Glory of All Lands and Nigeria.”
While commiserating with the Binabo family, Sylva further expressed that “losing a patriarch is always a shattering experience. We will pray, mourn, stand, and support them as they deal with this steep time.
“The family should be consoled by the fact they gave to Bayelsa and Nigeria a man of the finest qualities who blessed society positively and gave a noble account of himself, the statement read.”
The late Nestor Binabo who died on Thursday after a protracted illness, during his political career briefly served as the acting Governor of Bayelsa State from January 27 to February 24, 2012.
He also served as Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly.
