President Buhari lauds Sylva, as minister gets traditional title in Daura

Daura—Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva has been turbaned by the Daura Emirate Council with the traditional title of “Sarkin Kudun Hausa.”

Sylva alongside Nigeria’s Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Mr. Sunday Dare and others were confered the titles by the Emir of Daura, HRH Umar Farouk Umar on Thursday.

According to Daily Post Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari who is a native of Daura in Katsina State, hailed Sylva through his spokesperson, Garba Shehu.

Shehu stated that the title is in recognition of Sylva’s “versatile and cross-cultural experiences, schooling, working and sharing wisdom in various parts of the country, and the world.”

Buhari believes Sylva’s acceptance highlights the need for religious and cultural tolerance, understanding and networking to sustain the unity of the country.

The Nigerian leader appreciates the Daura Emirate Council for their support for his administration.

“President Buhari prays for the well-being of the Minister and his family,” the statement added.
