Petroleum Minister in charge of oil, Dr. Heineken Lokpobiri, has urged the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) to align its interest with that of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s mission of enhancing crude production while taking proactive steps to preserve the environment.
The minister gave the admonition while hosting the leadership of the IYC in his office in Abuja.
He lamented the menace of pipeline vandalization and illegal oil bunkering, which he said must be curbed through collaborative efforts.
He commended the IYC leadership for their commitment to the Council’s noble objective of safeguarding the interests of Ijaw people.
He said: “I had the honor of receiving the leadership of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), who paid a courtesy visit in solidarity with our collective efforts to foster collaboration among stakeholders to increase crude oil production.
“I commend the IYC leadership for their commitment to the Council’s noble objective of safeguarding the interests of the Ijaw people.
“I emphasized the importance of working together to achieve our shared goals as I urged the Council to align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s mission of enhancing crude production while taking proactive steps to preserve our environment.
“The menace of pipeline vandalization and illegal oil bunkering, which has caused significant environmental pollution in Ijaw land, must be curbed through collaborative efforts.”
While he further encouraged the IYC to embody the qualities that define an Ijaw man like integrity, resilience, and leadership, Lokpobiri assured them of his “unwavering support in their endeavors to the progress for our people, our land and the nation at large. “
