God brought Sylva to emancipate the downtrodden, says APC chieftain, Authentic

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State, Hon. Numonyon David aka Authentic, has felicitated the immediate past minister of state for petroleum resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, on the occasion of his 60th birthday.

The Bayelsa-born politician said that Sylva, who was also Governor of the state, is worth celebrating due to his charitable nature and many achievements while in office.

Numonyon’s felicitation was contained in a goodwill message made available to journalists on Saturday.

According to the statement, “God brought Chief Sylva into the world to emancipate the downtrodden from abject poverty via his philanthropic gestures.

“While I stand to be corrected, Chief Sylva was the ladder that all politicians in Bayelsa used to climb to the top, with the exception of Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha and Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.

“You cannot talk about the history, people and developmental trajectory of Bayelsa without mentioning Chief Sylva because he has done a lot for us as a people.

“If his remarkable contributions were excluded from Bayelsa, the state would be a swampy slum, as he made significant efforts to develop Bayelsa and improve our living conditions,” the statement read in part.

Numonyon who described Sylva as the “only nationalist in this current generation of Bayelsans” said people of the oil-rich state are blessed to have him.

“I wish His Excellency a glorious birthday devoid of failure, acrimony and sorrows. May God continue to strengthen and favour him in all his endeavours,” the APC stalwart prayed.
