Diri is one of the leading lights of Ijaw Nation, Okaba hails Bayelsa Governor at 65

Prof. Benjamin Okaba
President of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), Prof. Benjamin Okaba, has congratulated Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State on his 65th birthday anniversary.

According to him, Diri is one of the leading lights of Ijaw Nation.

Okaba’s goodwill message was contained in a statement he signed which was made available to newsmen on Tuesday.

He lauded Diri for upholding truth and integrity as well as demonstrating courage and inclusiveness in his governance style.

“These are virtues that the ideal Ijaw man is known for and we are happy that Governor Diri typifies them,” he said.

The INC helmsman also commended Diri for his contributions to the Ijaw struggle, particularly his unrelenting support towards INC activities since the inauguration of this present national executive council.

Okaba said, “His Excellency is a man of uncommon grace and one of the leading lights of Ijaw Nation and Nigeria at large.

“We love and admire Governor Diri not just because he is a critical stakeholder of Ijaw Nation, but also because of his leadership qualities and will to advance our common cause.”

While stressing that he is satisfied with Diri’s performance so far in office, Okaba said: “I am sure the bulk of Ijaw people, not just Bayelsans, are also impressed with the governor and all he has done since he took over the reins of authority in the Jerusalem of Ijaw Nation.

“Clocking 65 years is not a mean feat. Therefore the entire Ijaw Nation heartily joins other well-wishers, both far and near, to celebrate our worthy son who has made us proud in several ways.”

Okaba, in the statement, wished the governor a happy birthday and many more years of fulfilment in good health.
