Unknown gunmen kill APC chieftain in Bayelsa

Yenagoa—A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State, Chief Sunday Frank Oputu has been reportedly killed by unknown gunmen at his residence in Yenagoa, Niger Delta Herald reports.

Details of his death remain sketchy at the time of filing this report.

Frank Oputu is a strong supporter of the Senator Heineken Lokpobiri faction of the Bayelsa APC, who are in court challenging the Congresses held in the state last November.

He hails from Igbomotoru in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state and he is said to be in his early 50s.

He was a former Chairman of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) in the state.

As of the time of filing this report, the Police were yet to confirm the incident.

Also, there has not been any word from the APC yet regarding his death.

His sudden death has sent a shock to residents of the state, especially among the APC supporters.
