Odi—A frontline aspirant vying for the Kolokuma/Opokuma Constituency 1 seat in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Chief Ready Donye Ophori has assured stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of a landslide victory in the 2023 House of Assembly election.
He stated that with his wealth of experience and exposure in politics he can guarantee victory for the party.
The House of Assembly hopeful made this known on Thursday when he paid a consultative visit to stakeholders and ward executives of the APC in wards 1,2 and 3 In Odi community, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of the state.
Chief Ophori who is a philanthropist, businessman and the Chief Executive Officer of Redop Global Ventures averred that if voted as the party’s candidate in the upcoming May 11 primary election, the general election is as good as won.
According to him, “I am the APC’s best bet to win this election. Choosing me as your candidate means the general election is as good as won. I have the experience, exposure and wherewithal to ensure victory for the party.
“I have studied the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and found out that they usually rely on intimidation of voters and rigging to win elections.
“The recent passage and subsequent signing of the new electoral act by President Muhammadu Buhari will make it impossible for them to rig this election.”
Chief Ophori who decried the non-performance of the incumbent lawmaker representing the constituency, promised to bring the dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of constituents if voted.
“The incumbent lawmaker has performed poorly. Despite being in the House of Assembly for three consecutive terms our people are yet to feel any impact he has made in their lives.
“If voted, I will bring the dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of our people. One of the first things I will do is to swiftly implement my economic emancipation roadmap which is aimed at supporting and raising entrepreneurs in our constituency.
“With the type of motions I plan to raise in the House, the issue of the non-availability of basic amenities such as roads, water, light, housing, among others will be a thing of the past,” he said.
In their separate remarks, the ward chairmen assured Chief Ophori of their full support.
They described him as a round peg in a round hole given his credentials as a grassroots-oriented politician.
While appreciating him for the visit, they urged him to reach out to other critical stakeholders to get their support.
