Nembe—A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State, Prince Gabriel Jonah, over the weekend visited his hometown, Nembe City, in Nembe Local Government Area of the state.
Jonah who is the national leader of the Otita Transformation Movement popularly known as Otita Force was welcomed by a large crowd of community folks in his country home.
Mangrovepen.ng gathered that Jonah was in Nembe City to attend the burial ceremony of Chief JSA Tom Owugha Koki, father of Hon. Caroline Owugha, who was an aspirant in the just-concluded national convention of the APC held in Abuja.
Mrs Timi Alamene, a former Women Leader of the Ijaw Youth Council in Nembe City Clan, who led a group of women to welcome Jonah, told our reporter that “we are happy to see him in good health and excellent spirit after about a year.”
Alamene noted that Jonah’s presence has rekindled their hopes for a better life.
“Without any political office, Gabriel Jonah assisted our children’s education, provided economic incentives for our businesses to flourish and engaged the youths meaningfully, which in turn brought peace to Nembe City and other satellite communities,” she added.
A youth leader from the community, Fiefamokuma Ipogi, hinted that the APC chieftain impacted several youths, thereby making them self-reliant and creating job opportunities for over 1500 youths across the state.
According to him, “he gave monthly stipends to the aged, sponsored a road with streetlights, completed the Igbeta Ewoama town square building and a whole lot of other developmental projects.
“‘To the youths of Nembe City, our dependable pillar of support has returned and we are very glad to see him.”
In a chat with our reporter, Jonah’s media assistant, Deacon Tari Agai, said the warm reception given to his boss is a demonstration of gratitude by the people for the love he has shown them.
Agai said the reception is evidence that the people of Nembe City appreciate the genuine efforts he has made so far to improve their living standards, even without any political ambition for now.
“Gabriel Jonah is a man who takes delight in putting smiles on people’s faces, and that he has done by footing bills for individuals, families and groups, including the medical bills of the successfully separated Bayelsa conjoined twins.”
