Sylva lauds Diri for approving construction of Nembe-Brass road, rallies support for state govt

Yenagoa—The Technical Adviser to the Bayelsa State Governor on Special Duties (East), Hon. Nathaniel Ngo Sylva has once again hailed the Bayelsa State governor, Senator Douye Diri and the state executive council for approving the construction of the first phase of the Nembe-Brass road.

Sylva in a statement sent to mangrovepen.ng on Thursday admitted that his joy upon hearing the news could not be quantified.

“The Bayelsa state government under Diri has done nobly just by its sheer commitment to construct the Nembe-Brass road,” he stated.

He averred that the road which has been on the drawing board for about six decades has significant security and economic importance not only to the people of Brass but to all Bayelsans.

He added that amongst other things, the road would significantly quell the age-long incident of sea piracy and general insecurity on the Brass waterways, reduce the high cost of essential goods, and ultimately attract progress and economic prosperity to the island.

Sylva who is a former chairman of the Brass Local Government council stated that with the construction of the road kick-starting soonest, the people of Brass would regain their sense of belonging and inclusivity in the state.

He stressed that “the Nembe-Brass road is symbolic in connecting the People of Brass to the rest of Bayelsans.”

He extolled Diri for keeping to his promise concerning the project and expressed firm belief that the governor will see to the completion of the road, insisting that “the feat will forever endear him to the people of Brass.”

Sylva equally charged the people of Brass, Bayelsa East and all Bayelsans to continue giving the governor the needed support to steer the affairs of the state to the desired developmental heights.
