Yenagoa—The Bayelsa state government has today approved the commencement of phase one of the Nembe-Brass road, connecting Nembe and Brass Local Government Areas.
At the 70th Bayelsa State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Douye Diri, the meeting approved the commencement of phase one of the road which covers 21 km with 10 bridges.
Briefing newsmen after the meeting, Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Mr. Ayiba Duba, and his Works and Infrastructure counterpart, Moses Teibowei, said the job would be awarded to a competent contractor after the Procurement Unit concludes on the financial details.
“The Nembe-Brass road has been divided into 3 sections and we are starting with this one. This one is 21 km with 10 bridges and covers up to St. Nicholas river.
“After the procurement team completes its work on the figures, we will then award to a competent contractor. That is when we will flag off this strategic road project”, Teibowei stated.
Reacting to the development, Hon. Commissioner for Special Duties (East) Hon. Preye Brodrick lauded the move by the state government and described it as historic.
She said the Diri-led state government with the approval to commence the road has initiated a project that would be an enduring legacy in Bayelsa east and the entire state in general.
She said, “With gratitude and Joy in our hearts, I want to appreciate the prompt approval of the 21 kilometers Nembe-Brass road(Phase One) by the Bayelsa State Executive Council ably led by His Excellency, Sen Douye Diri. I’m pleased to announce that this is indeed historical and laudable.”
“It is worthy to note that this government of Prosperity Administration which I am gladly part of has done what will bring lasting legacy and economic developmental impact to the good people of East Senatorial District and Bayelsa State at large.”
More so, the foremost Nembe Se Congress (NSC) through its secretary, Barrister Allen Hope Jonah, also commended the Bayelsa state governor, Senator Douye Diri and the state Executive Council for approving the commencement of the road.
Secretary of the group, Barr. Allen Hope Jonah gave the commendation shortly after the approval by the State Executive Council.
