Delta business tycoon congratulates Diri for emerging Independent Newspaper’s Governor of the Year

Yenagoa—Delta State-born businessman and philanthropist, High Chief Emonena Victor Wayles Egukawhore (JP), has congratulated Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State on his recent award as “Governor of the Year” by the Independent Newspaper.

High Chief Egukawhore, who is the Chairman of De Wayles Group of Companies, made this known in a statement sent to Mangrovepen.ng on Friday.

He noted that Diri deserves the award considering his passion to make a difference in Bayelsa and the entire Ijaw nation.

In his words: “Please accept our warmest and sincerest congratulations as my family and I join millions of Nigerians around the world to witness the presentation to you, as the award recipient of ‘Governor of the Year’ by The Independent Newspaper.

“This award could not have gone to a more deserving recipient than you.

“Looking at your hard work, zeal and determination to make a difference in the lives of Bayelsans and the Ijaw nation, I am truly thrilled to see your efforts being acknowledged and validated.”

He, however, pleaded with the governor not to relent in his pursuit for excellence.

“Please do not relent in your pursuit of excellence. Best wishes for more success in the future. Be assured that you have my complete confidence,” he stated.

Mangrovepen.ng recalls that Diri was voted Governor of the Year 2021 by the Board of Editors of Independent Newspapers, publishers of Daily Independent, Saturday Independent and Sunday Independent titles.

He emerged as the best governor in the Good Governance and Responsive Leadership category.
 
It was gathered that the awards ceremonies will hold on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at the Convention Centre of the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island in Lagos.
