Nembe-Brass Road Will Attract More Investors And Boost Tourism, Diri’s Aide

Yenagoa—Special Adviser to the Bayelsa State Governor on Student Affairs, Austin Adigio, has said a road to Brass Island will improve the life and livelihood of the people of the area.

He made the statement during an interview with Mangrovepen.ng on Thursday.

Austin who hails from Okpoama in Brass Local Government Area, said he is happy that a government he is part of is taking the ingenious initiative to construct a road to Brass.

According to him, “Brass Island is the gateway to the economy of Bayelsa State, and a road to Brass Island will give access to the blue economy that is much talked about.

“The island hosts a large oil and gas facility with the offshore terminal where exports are made. If a road gets to Brass, the ancillary companies that will be established in Brass will open up that economy.

“I see lots of possibilities, especially now that the Brass Fertilizer and Petrochemical Company project is taking off. I see possibilities of a deep sea terminal because of the strategic location and it will bring a boom in the Bayelsan and indeed the Nigerian economy.”

The special adviser commended Governor Douye Diri for considering the Nembe-Brass road and prayed for the economy to remain stable to see the project to completion.

He expressed that, “only a visionary government can see these opportunities and consider constructing the Nembe-Brass road.

“Governor Douye Diri is a very focused person. He has deep foresight in the future; that is why he has taken this bold step.

“I commend him immensely for this great stride. And I also pray that the economy remains stable so that he can take on this very big project and see it within the life of his administration.”

He opined that the road will boost the tourism industry, if very well harnessed.

In his words: “There is also a huge tourism potential in the Brass Island. The White man’s grave, the slave barracoon and the beautiful shoreline coupled with the mini airport that is already situated in the area.

“Those shorelines are more natural and more beautiful than what you see in Florida and other parts of the world.”

Austin, however, enjoined the Brass-Nembe people to be cooperative and peaceful when the project eventually kicks off as well as support the government to ensure the fast pace of work as the government is proposing.

“The chiefs women and everybody,” Austin notes, “should be very supportive, so that this laudable project beyond conception will be achieved to boost the economy.”

Recall that Governor Douye Diri said the Nembe-Brass road construction will begin next year

  1. This Is A Welcomed Development If Sincerity And Purposeful Drive Is Added To Achieve This Goal But Am Taken Abake Cos I See Politics In This Already For It To Start Next Year While Other Roads Projects To Different LGA’s The Governor Declared Also Started This Year So Why Wait Till 2022 ?
