Encomium as former Bayelsa transport commissioner gets new appointment

Brass—Hon. Marie Ebikake, a former commissioner of transportation in Bayelsa State, has been appointed as a Member of the Governing Council, University of Africa, Toru-Orua.

According to a member of the Brass Local Government Area Education Authority in the state, Mr. Ebitimi Onyambo, Ebikake’s appointment is akin to putting a square peg in a square hole, while congratulating her for the new position.

In a statement sent to mangrovepen.ng, Onyambo noted that the ex-commissioner has what it takes to discharge her duties diligently, owing to her vast knowledge and experience in the education sector.

He said Ebikake is one of the few female politicians in the state who can boast of a proven track record of integrity and competence in public service.

He commended the Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, for finding Ebikake worthy of such exalted position, Onyambo expressed that “Governor Diri is known for appointing credible personalities into sensitive positions in the state.

“We know she is equal to the task and will use her wide knowledge in education to contribute meaningfully.

“I am also using this platform to thank our Miracle Governor, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, for appointing credible personalities into sensitive positions.”

Hon. Marie Ebikake was a former Chairman of Brass Council Area, making her the first female council boss in Bayelsa State. She was also the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the Brass-Nembe House of Representatives election in 2019.
