Ogbia Brotherhood Youth Council raises alarm over activities of impostors

Ogbia—The leadership of Ogbia Brotherhood Youth Council (OBYC) in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State has raised an alarm over the activities of impostors parading as factional leaders of the council.

In a statement signed by its National President, Johnny Jonathan and Comr. Okala Igwe, National Publicity Secretary, the council accused them of trying to cause a breach of peace in and around Ogbia and defrauding unsuspecting persons from the area and the state.

The statement warned them to stop forthwith in their own interest or face the wrath of Ogbia youths and the kingdom.

According to the statement, some aggrieved members who did not participate in the recently conducted election have been falsely parading themselves as leaders of the youth body.

The statement reads in part:

“The election of the executives of Ogbia Brotherhood Youth Council which produced the 4th Executive Council headed by Comrade Johnny Jonathan as President held on the 4th of December, 2021 in Ogbia Town conforms with the provisions of the current Constitution of Ogbia Brotherhood Youth Council, the guidelines and code of conduct of the Council.

“And that the fallacious claims by one Bright Ewa, parading himself as President, is nothing but a calculated plan targeted at bringing the name of this noble Council into disrepute while serving the selfish partisan interest of anti-Ogbia politicians.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the election which was held under a peaceful atmosphere was attended, monitored and observed by worthy Delegates, relevant stakeholders, including the Palace of the Obanobhan of Ogbia through Dan Lumumba, Esq; Men of the Bayelsa State Police Command, Personnel of the Department of State Security Services (DSS), Representatives of the Pen Profession, Members of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and government officials, among others.

“And that at the end of the exercise, Johnny Jonathan polled 67 votes from the total votes of 68 accredited Delegates from the 52 Communities in Ogbia Land, present on the election ground in Ogbia Town.”

The statement revealed that “it is disappointing, contemptible and despicable to note that Ewa and his co-travellers are laying unfounded claims to the leadership of the Ogbia Brotherhood Youth Council when they did not even participate in the election overseen by the immediate past President of the Ogbia Brotherhood Youths Council, Comrade Napuru Bassuo.”

The Jonathan-led OBYC urged security agencies to fish out the impostors and bring them to book.

They called on government, corporate organizations, media and men and women of goodwill to deal with the Jonathan-led executive council on matters relating to Ogbia Brotherhood Youth Council.

The members of the newly-inaugurated executives of the Ogbia Brotherhood Youth Council are Comr. Johnny Jonathan, national president; Comr. Goodnews Nathaniel, vice president; Comr. Desmond Robert, national secretary; Comr. Nelson Ademe, national treasurer; Comr. Sarah Obolo, national women leader.

Others are Comr. Okala Igwe, publicity secretary; Comr. Akari Augustine, assistant secretary; Comr. Peter Aluko, financial secretary; Comr. Ofua Minera, social welfare officer; Comr. Prince James, national provost; Comr. Green Godgift, national auditor.
