Yenagoa—Youths representing the eight local government areas of Bayelsa State have commended the state governor, Sen. Douye Diri over what they described as an inclusive style of leadership and governance.
Speaking on behalf of the youths, Comrade Ebilade Ekerefe, who is a former director-general of the Douye Diri/Lawrence Youth Network, described the recent confirmation of the appointments of the Chairmen of the State Vigilante Service and State Volunteer Service, Doubiye Alagoa and Lucky Asanakpo respectively as well deserved.
He said the appointment of Williams Ebifate, Doris Alagoa, Kelvin Teikakpo and Doubra Duere who hail from different LGAs as special assistants only demonstrates the governor’s love for the youths.
Ekerefe expressed that the youths would eternally remain grateful for his fatherly disposition towards them.
“Let me also appreciate the governor for his unique style of governance. He has built bridges of brotherhood amongst stakeholders of the state irrespective of political persuasions for the overall development of the only homogeneous Ijaw-speaking state.
“This is highly commendable. His good intentions and liberal leadership style are known to all and we are duty-bound as youths to support him and his government to succeed,” he stated.
Ekerefe who is also the national spokesman of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) disclosed that Bayelsa youths will soon embark on a solidarity match for the governor to show appreciation for his efforts.
He equally lauded the administration for the smooth running of the state despite the dwindling finances from the federal allocation.
