Yenagoa—The Leadership of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly has commended the effort of the State Governor, Senator Douye Diri over the construction of the new media complex popularly know as Media Village.
The Media Village is a brainchild project of the Diri-led administration to house the State Broadcasting Corporation and the State-owned Radio and newspaper organisations.
According to reports by the leadership newspaper, the State House of Assembly through its chairman house committee on information and orientation, Hon. Tare Porri, said the present administration is matching words with action given the number of projects under construction in the state.
Porri, while on tour for project inspection, expressed satisfaction with the way the funds appropriated by the house are being expended by the state.
He also commended the state commissioner for works and infrastructure, and his information and orientation counterpart for the good job done.
In his remark, the commissioner for information and orientation, Hon. Ayiba Duba, expressed gratitude to the members of the State House of Assembly Committee for the visit.
He thanked the lawmakers for appropriating the right amount for the project and the contractors, Amapu-Pere Nigeria limited.
He described the company as a shining example of what an indigenous contractor should be and appealed to other contractors to emulate it.
Also speaking, the commissioner for works and infrastructure, Mr. Moses Teibowei, said because of the governor’s passion for development, no contract so far awarded has been stalled.
According to him, out of 20 internal roads in the Yenagoa metropolis promised by the government, 17 have been awarded while 5 out of the 17 have been completed.
The media village project which was commenced six months ago, will on completion accommodate all the state-owned media outfits.
