Yenagoa—A youth leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Southern Ijaw local government area of Bayelsa State, Comrade Kockman Kurobo, has slammed a former national spokesman of the party, Yekini Nabena, over his comments against David Lyon, a former governorship candidate of the party in the 2019 gubernatorial election.
In a statement obtained by Mangrovepen.ng, Kurobo stated that Lyon was legitimately mandated by Bayelsans to govern the state but unfortunately his candidature was annulled by the Supreme Court.
Kurobo, who is also the vice-chairman of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Central Zone, expressed disappointment over Nabena’s comments and called for his immediate suspension from the APC.
“It is disappointing that a person of his rank in the party, a former spokesman, would come out to the public to slander the image of Lyon, a candidate who was massively supported and overwhelmingly voted for by Bayelsans to emerge governor-elect.
“I believe Nabena did not make all those comments out of his own volition, he is only acting a script given to him by some disgruntled elements.
“These elements have now seen a willing tool in the person of Nabena to use as an alibi and it is really unfortunate that an adult like him will allow himself to be used for such a dirty job.
Kurobo added that actions have consequences, hence he implored “the leadership of the party to immediately suspend Nabena for his statements against David Lyon” noting that it is the right thing to do at this point.
