Yenagoa—Virtually every young man dreams of a better life where he excels in academics, career, business while living healthy with family.
But oftentimes these dreams get truncated due to unforeseen circumstances.
Preye Augustine Dressman, a promising youth residing in Yenagoa
is about losing hope as regards achieving his dreams.
An indigene of Toru-ebeni community in Sagbama local government area of Bayelsa State, Dressman is the first child of his parents.
Mangrovepen.ng gathered that Dressman, in an injury he sustained while playing football, disfigured his leg which nearly led to an amputation.
His predicament was first brought to our attention by Gborienemi Mark-Charles, a Bayelsa social media influencer.
Dressman studied Political/Social Studies at the Isaac Jasper Boro College of Education (IJBCOE), Sagbama.
In an interview with our reporter, Dressman said that “after my teaching practice in 2016, while on holiday, I stepped out to play football with my friends. In the process, I had this heavy clash with one of the players that got me injured and led to my incapacitation.
“Immediately after I sustained the injury, I was recommended to a traditional bone doctor. I was told he is an expert on my kind of injury, but as time progressed I saw no improvement.
“My mum then took me to Federal Medical Center (FMC), Yenagoa, where they suggested that my leg should be amputated. My mum didn’t like the idea so we left FMC.
“From there, we moved from place to place in search of a solution, but all to no avail.”
He said he has solicited the support of many individuals he could reach out to but to no avail.
“I am pleading with kind-hearted Bayelsans to come to my aid. I want to use this medium to solicit for a new or fairly-used tricycle, so I can fend for myself and not depend on anyone.
“I am tired of being a liability, I want to work. There are people whose conditions are worse than mine and they still do well in life,” he pleaded.
While advising people in similar situations to never lose hope, he averred that, “I know what I’ve been through and still going through. I’m a fighter and still hope for better days.
“I expect anyone in similar situation to do the same. And most importantly they should look up to God because he’s the only one who can help truly.”
