Yenagoa—Many Nigerians have in recent times ventured into photography, perhaps because the profession has become lucrative more than ever before, with celebrities like TY Bello, Bayo Omoboriowo, Busola Dakolo and many others still making a living out of it.
Nathan Godstime, popularly called Geetee the Creator, became in love with photography, so he subjected himself to learning the skill.
In an exclusive interview with Mangrovepen.ng via Whatsapp, Geetee hinted that he has been into photography for about five years.
“I majorly started in 2018, because I was using the other years to practice and I never had a camera then. It was late 2018 that I got a camera,” Geetee stated.
He noted that apart from the money he makes in the business, photography has made him appreciate behavioural differences and how to politely converse with people.
“When I started photography,” states Geetee, “I never had anything; I never had anyone to support me. I had to go online to watch videos to get to where I am now.”
He disclosed that he reinvests every profit he makes into the photography business, as he is determined to be one of the most celebrated photographers in the world.
According to him, “I’m putting every single money I earn back into the business. I’m placing all my bets on it. In the next 4-5years I should be doing well in the business.
“I should be one of the most respected photographers in the world. I should be a very big, recognised photographer that will be taking pictures for Forbes Magazine.”
Geetee hails from Akede Town in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. His photography studio is located in Yenagoa, the state capital.
The Creator, as he is also fondly called, advised upcoming photographers to be more passionate, consistent as well as invest in the business of photography.
“You have to invest and make sacrifices if you want to move forward in photography.
“You cannot be using one camera and one lens to be taking pictures for many years and expect to get to the next level.
“You have to buy camera gears. You have to equip yourself so that when the big jobs come you will be ready and not be embarrassed.
“The problem a lot of youths have today is that whatever they are doing they want to see immediate gains. This is not possible because it takes time for things to happen,” Geetee pointed out.
He further advised youths to learn relevant skills and remain committed, instead of resorting to criminal and other unwholesome activities
He further admonished youths to “learn a trade, leave the fraud business, and think about your future.
“Do something good for yourself, forget about the politicians that you are seeing. Don’t run after them because, in the end, you might not even see a good result.”
I see potential in him, and I believe he will get to the point he has aimed at. He has determination, persistence and he’s positive, that’s all the bullets he needs to shoot beyond proof and reach his aim.
