AS Roma Football Academy signs Bayelsa-born talented footballer

Abuja—A promising football player, Richmond Hanson Baratuaipre, has been signed by AS Roma Football Academy located in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

Mangrovepen.ng gathered that Hanson hails from Ewoama town in Brass local government area of Bayelsa state.

In a phone conversation with our reporter, he stated that he is grateful to God for making his dream a reality.

“I was just playing football, doing what I love doing, and the next thing I heard the academy wants me, and with the help of some good people the whole thing became a reality,” he said.

The young football player revealed that he has been playing football at the community level before his engagement with AS Roma academy.

“The most important thing is consistency. And God’s grace is also important. I believe God will take me to play at the top level of football,” he said.

He thanked his manager, Mr. Sidney Obuebite for the key role he has played in helping him achieve this feat.


When contacted, Obuebite described Hanson’s signing as a dream come true.

He averred that Hanson is one of the most gifted players he has ever come across.

“The boy is a wonder to behold on the pitch. I have never seen a grassroots player as gifted as him.

“I believe he will perform remarkably well in AS Roma Football Academy and be a celebrated star at the international scene.”

Obuebite also called on individuals, organized private sector and the government to support skillful players at the grassroots.

“Let me seize this opportunity to urge well-meaning individuals, private organizations and government at all levels to put resources together and support young talents in the grassroots.

“Our leagues and other football tournaments cannot grow if we don’t give young talents the opportunity they deserve,” he concluded.
