Yenagoa—The lawmaker representing Yenagoa/Kolokuma-Opokuma Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Prof. Steve Azaiki, has hailed the popular Yenagoa-based female barber for venturing into what many regard as a male-dominated occupation.
Azaiki, who visited the female barber in her shop on Monday, made this known in a post on his official Facebook profile.
In his words, “The Yenagoa boy visited the famous female Barber in Yenagoa, the capital city of Bayelsa State.
“I went there to make Coinde Elizabeth a visible star and draw attention to her and the barbershop.”
The lawmaker, who noticed the presence of another female barber in the shop, stated that “the true gist of this post is to appreciate our young women doing what we think is a man’s job.
“I celebrate Lisa and her partner for showing the people of Bayelsa and indeed Nigeria that there is dignity in labour.”
While underscoring the need for a humble beginning in business, Azaiki also noted that not everyone can be appointed by the government.
“It is good to start humbly and grow. Everyone cannot be a special adviser or commissioner at the same time. This is a beautiful example of how we should see ourselves in the eyes of God.
“I am thinking of how best to empower all these people. Please comment and share let us make Lisa a star,” he added.
