Bayelsa United forward earns first home-based Super Eagles call-up

Abuja—Bayelsa United forward, Emo James has been called up to the National team ahead of an invitational tournament to be held in Congo later this month.

He is one of the 23 home-based players reported to have been invited to camp in Abuja.

Although information about the tournament in Congo has not been made public by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), mangrovepen.ng gathered that camping started on Sunday.

James, who was part of the Bayelsa United team that won the 2021 Aiteo Cup earlier this month and also scored in the final match against Nasarawa United, earns his first-ever call-up to the national team.

The talented forward has made fifteen appearances for Bayelsa United this season in the Nigeria National League, scoring eight goals and made five assists.

Other players invited to the tournament include Enyimba’s Goalie, Ojo Olorunleke and the Nigerian Professional Football League, NPFL top scorer, Silas Nwankwo.
