Port Harcourt—The Special Assistant to the Sole Administrator of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, on youth Matters, Engr. Udengs Eradiri, has disclosed that the commission is set to train five hundred youths in the maritime sector.
Eradiri made this known when he embarked on an inspection tour to the Charkin Maritime Academic in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, to assess the institution’s facilities for the training of officers and cadets in the maritime industry.
According to Eradiri, the NDDC is prepared to train and engage youths in the oil and gas, maritime, agricultural and ICT sectors.
While expressing satisfaction after touring the academy, he also affirmed the readiness of the NDDC to train and retrain youths in the Niger Delta in a bid to create jobs.
It was gathered that the Academy has facilities such as ASD system, Dynami Positioning Vessels and Assimilators for training in survival at sea.
Others include galvanizing and spraying workshop, welding, standby Ambulance, sickbay as well as over two hundred bed spaces for students.
