Bayelsa Speaker commended for facilitating new school building in his constituency

Akassa—Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, has facilitated the construction of a new six-unit school building for Bishop Crowther Memorial (BCM) Primary School in Ogbokiri, Brass Local Government Area.

Ogbokiri community is located in Akassa Clan and also serves as headquarters of Brass Constituency III where the speaker represents at the state assembly.

Mangrovepen.ng gathered that the old school block, established in 1947, is grossly dilapidated so the lawmaker facilitated the new structure.

A constituent, Olaye Felagha, commended the speaker for the timely intervention and also ensuring that the new school building was completed as promised.

In an interview with our correspondent, Felagha said: “I thank Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere for completing this project in a short time as he earlier promised.

“It was due to the poor condition of the old building that the speaker decided to start-up this project.

“The land clearing started in January 2021 while construction started in February 2021.

“This is July and we already have a beautiful six-classroom block with three offices and seven toilets for the pupils and staff of the school.”

He added that “although I am not surprised with the gesture of our Mr. Project as he has done well as our representative, courtesy demands that we appreciate people even publicly when they perform creditably well.

“Indeed, the speaker is doing very well and a majority of the Akassa people are satisfied with his style of representation over the years.”

Felagha pointed out that “the distance between the new and the old school block is about 130 meters.”

Abraham Ingobere is serving his third tenure in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly.

He contested and won the 2011 Brass Constituency III assembly seat under the KOWA party, and was reelected in 2015 and 2019 respectively under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
