Nembe—The Bayelsa state government has imposed a dusk to dawn curfew on Bassambiri and Ogbolomabiri towns in Nembe local government area.
A statement by the Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Hon. Ayibaina Crowther Duba, noted that the curfew became imperative due to “reports of violent crisis,” which the government fears might lead to a “breach of public peace” in both towns.
The curfew which takes effect from Wednesday, 14th July, 2021, according to the statement, shall be enforced from 6pm to 6am daily, until the security situation improves.
Duba, who called on residents of the affected communities to fully comply in their interest, also revealed that security agencies have been mobilized to enforce the curfew.
The statement admonished “residents of Nembe and aggrieved individuals in the area to allow peace to reign by seeking civilized alternatives to resolving whatever might have caused the recent unfortunate situation.”
Recall that unknown gunmen had on Sunday night invaded Bassambiri which led to the death of one Ibeinmo Victor.
