Bayelsa: The changing times under Gov. Diri!

By Kola Oredipe

It is indeed a great time for Bayelsa State. It’s a new season of progress and development under the current administration of Senator Douye Diri, the governor of the State.

The truth about the remarkable progress is visible to everyone and the people are acknowledging the impactful leadership style of Gov. Diri.

For the first time in a long while, those in the opposition parties have abandoned the usual, unfashionable and unprogressive political attrition against the incumbent prosperity government because the administration is doing great things.

Yes! they have changed with the current tide in Bayelsa State and have continued to appreciate the good works of the Prosperity Government.

After all, a former American football coach, Marv Levy, was right in his quote when he said: “If you don’t change with the times, the times are going to change you.”

The Government of Assured Prosperity has won the heart of every Bayelsan including those who were ardent critics at some point in time.

They now marvel at the outstanding personality of the Governor, a unifier and peace advocate, who has surpassed the expectations of all Bayelsans.

To those who still doubt the massive progress under Governor Diri and his amiable Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, just pick a pen and paper, attempt to make a list of the achievements you can easily remember.

You will be proud to have Senator Douye Diri as the Governor of Bayelsa State at this time.

The commitment of Governor Diri to expanding road infrastructures across the state is second to none. Since 2020 when the mantle of leadership fell on his shoulder, he has continued to make solid impact in the various sectors.

The three Senatorial District roads are the most capital intensive, visible and most ambitious of the road network that has become a hallmark of his leadership.

Indeed, history will be kind to Governor Diri for starting the Nembe-Brass road construction, the 630-metre Angiama bridge over River Nun along Yenagoa-Oporoma-Ukubie road, the Sagbama-Ekeremor-Agge road and other roads opening up several riverine communities.

While he is touching lives in other sectors and achieving milestones in health, education, human capacity development, this Governor is also building legacy projects- a new gas turbines project, iconic 9-storey Secretariat complex, the 25,000 seater capacity modern stadium and a New Yenagoa City as well as expansion of the capital city with a ring road.

Truly, Bayelsans are happy with this agent of development and a man at peace with friends and foes. This is a happy man whose beautiful smiles overshadow any appearances of the rough seas; remains calm as always to deliver more dividends of democracy to the good people of the State.

Truly, these are changing times in Bayelsa State and everyone including those who have visited the State recently acknowledge that fact.

Governor Diri, the worthy leader of the Assured Prosperity Administration is simply doing something right and “we are proud” of his 5 years journey so far! This is the verdict of every Bayelsans today!
