Mr. John Domkpee, Special Assistant to the Bayelsa State Governor on New Media, has extolled his principal, Senator Douye Diri, for the successful training of the 2,850 participants of the Diri Skills Acquisition Programme
He also lauded the Governor for giving each of the participants starter packs ranging from generator, clipper, gas cooker and oven, industrial sewing machine, laptops, among others.
Domkpee in a press statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday said the Governor’s initiative was a big booster to the economy of the state as it has equipped the trainees for self-employment and prosperity.
He said the initiative will relieve some of the burdens occasioned by the present economic hardship on the participants and make them self-reliant as well as employers of labour.
He hailed Diri for consistently initiating what he called people-oriented projects since assuming office, stressing that the programme is a testament to the governor’s will to truly empower and prosper Bayelsans amidst the global downturn.
He said Diri deserves more praise in his all-round performance as governor stating that “from capital projects to sports, education, human capital development, security and the economy, the governor has done wonderfully well in his five years of leading the state.”
According to him, “His Excellency did not mince words when he nicknamed his administration Prosperity.
“All that the Governor has done since assuming office is to bring prosperity to Bayelsa and this is seen in his people-oriented policies and progress such as the Diri Skills Acquisition Programme.”
The Bayelsa governor’s social media aide however advised participants of the programme to leverage on the skills they have acquired as well as the starter packs given to them.
“I hope that the participants will make use of what they learned and the starter packs given to them to make something meaningful out of their lives
“Out of his love for Bayelsans and staying true to his mandate, His Excellency is doing his best to make Bayelsa the Glory of Lands, so we should do our part to leverage on every good programme initiated by this government.”
Domkpee further urged Bayelsans to support the Governor and the self-styled Prosperity Administration for better governance.
