The people of Engenni in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State have overwhelmingly adopted Governor Siminalayi Fubara as their sole candidate in the 2027 gubernatorial election in the state.
Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Sokari Goodboy Sokari, made the announcement during an end of year and thanksgiving celebration organised by the Engenni Simplified Movement.
The event which was held at the playground in Akinima town was attended by thousands of people who were satisfied with the performance of the Governor.
According to the youthful lawmaker, they decided to adopt Governor Fubara because since the inception of democracy, the Engenni people have never been so favoured as they are now.
“Since the inception of democracy in 1999, Engenni people have not been this favoured by any Governor of the state.
“As such, we are saying that politics of 2027 starts today and we don’t have any other choice than Sir Siminalayi Fubara.
“He is our choice in 2027 and the sole candidate in every party be it PDP, APC, APP, APGA, etc. We don’t want to hear any other candidate except Sir Siminalayi Fubara,” he said.
Sokari emphasised that the focus of Engenni people under his political leadership is to ensure that Governor Fubara exceedingly succeeds in the 2027 election.
He however hinted that the essence of the thanksgiving was to appreciate God for preserving the lives of Engenni people and being favoured by the state government.
The lawmaker said: “This is the first time Engenni people are coming together to say thank you to God Almighty for preserving our people and for also preserving myself and other top political leaders from Engenni.
“We are also thanking God for giving us a people-oriented Governor like Sir Siminalayi Fubara who has graciously supported Engenni sons and daughters to hold sensitive political positions in his government.
“I would not have been the Leader of the 10th Assembly without the firm support of His Excellency. There are several other Engenni people who are playing key roles in this government and we are grateful for it.”
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Politics and Strategy, Barr. Forgiven Amachree, described Governor Fubara as a Godsent leader that runs an all-inclusive government.
The Governor’s aide called on the people of Engenni to support not only Fubara’s administration but also his re-election in 2027.
The special adviser tasked the people to woo more supporters and ensure that the entire Engenni people are standing with Governor Fubara as their sole candidate.
Speaking earlier, Leader of the Simplified Movement in Engenni, Hon. Ezekiel Friday Agri, admitted that the political movement started when Governor Fubara came up with the Rivers First mantra and the people decided to key in.
Ezekiel who is a former commissioner also reiterated the decision of the Engenni people to give Governor Fubara their unflinching support in the 2027 poll.
Our correspondent reports that goodwill messages were also delivered by several other notable leaders of Engenni Kingdom who pledged to work assiduously for the re-election of the Rivers helmsman.
