In a unified appeal for peace and stability, prominent ex-agitators of the Niger Delta, General Aso Tambou and General John Esuku, have called on the region’s stakeholders to address rising tensions threatening the area’s stability and development.
Speaking on recent allegations targeting High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo) and Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, the duo condemned what they described as baseless accusations aimed at discrediting the security outfit and its leadership.
They were reacting to allegations, raised by Mr. Jude Gbaboyor, claiming that Tompolo has used the Maciver family to commit acts of kidnapping and intimidation under the cover of Tantita Security.
Tambou and Esuku dismissed these claims as unfounded and politically motivated, accusing certain ex-agitators of fueling power struggles for personal gain.
They highlighted the crucial role Tantita Security Services has played in securing critical infrastructure and combating economic sabotage, noting that attacks on its credibility threaten the entire region’s peace and security.
To resolve the brewing crisis, Tambou and Esuku, urged respected Niger Delta leaders—including Former President Goodluck Jonathan, Elder Statesman Pa Edwin Clark, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, and others—to step in and mediate the conflict.
They further warned that if left unchecked, the current disputes could destabilize the Presidential Amnesty Programme, a vital initiative that has played a key role in reducing violence and fostering development in the region.
They appealed to all Niger Deltans—traditional rulers, youth leaders, women groups, ex-agitators, and stakeholders—to rise above personal grievances and engage in constructive dialogue.
While acknowledging the region’s challenges, they expressed hope that with collective action, the Niger Delta could become a model of peace, stability, and prosperity in Nigeria.
