Congress: Ogbia youths to converge October 3 in Ogbuku’s hometown


The National Executive Council of the Ogbia Brotherhood Youth Council (OBYC) Worldwide, the socio-cultural umbrella youth organisation of Ogbia Kingdom in Bayelsa State is inviting all Ogbia youths to her general congress scheduled to hold Thursday, 3rd October, 2024.

A statement jointly signed by Ambassador Johnny Jonathan and Comr. Robert Nitabai Desmond, OBYC’s President and Secretary respectively, hinted that the Congress will take place at the Ayakoro Town Pavilion at 9:00 am prompt.

According to the statement, “the Ogbia Brotherhood Youth Council (OBYC) Worldwide is the socio-cultural apex youth organization in Ogbia Local Government Area.

“We are registered with the Bayelsa State Government through the Ministry of Youth Development with Registration Number: MYD/YMD/S. 0236 and the Nigerian Government through the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) with Registration Number: 7109180.

“The General Congress of the OBYC slated to hold on Thursday October 3rd, 2024 at Ayakoro Town is in line with the Constitution of the Ogbia Brotherhood Youth Council, (2015 as Amended) which empowers the outgoing 4th National Executive Council to convoke a congress for the formation of Electoral Committee (ELECO) ten (10) weeks before expiration of the tenure of NEC.

“This is in strict compliance to the express permission granted to the OBYC 4th National Executive Council by the Ogbia Brotherhood Worldwide (wherein the OBYC derives her powers from) and the Obanobhan III of Ogbia Kingdom, His Eminence, King Dumaro Charles Owaba (the traditional head and leader of the Ogbia Kingdom) to commence the transition processes to usher in a substantive 5th National Executive Council of OBYC.”

The statement encouraged all the resourceful and law-abiding Ogbia youths to peacefully participate in the General Congress and other transition processes that will take place subsequently.

The youths were also admonished to “channel their energies on productive ventures that will not only ensure their personal development and peaceful coexistence in Ogbia Kingdom, but also place the Ogbia Brotherhood Youth Council (OBYC) on a continuous path of progress and growth.”
