National Chairman of the Third Phase Ex-agitators Forum of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), “General” Preye Ekpebide, has called on the management of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) to disregard a recent protest by a faction of the forum.
It was gathered that a group of ex-agitators led by one Elaye Slaboh staged a protest at the NCDMB headquarters in Yenagoa, on Thursday, demanding for employment chances, training and empowerment packages, inter alia.
Reacting to the deployment via a statement made available to journalists on Friday, Ekpebide alleged that Elaye is only impersonating his office as the National Chairman of Third Phase Ex-agitators Forum of PAP.
The statement reads in part: “It is laughable that some persons have taken their self-deceit and act of impersonation to the point of leading a protest to the NCDMB to make demands.
“It should be noted that Elaye is an imposter who at this point in time lacks the merit to speak on any issue relating to the third phase ex-agitators in the Niger Delta.”
While maintaining that Elaye is not even recognized by the Amnesty Office, Ekpebide stated that the leadership and members of the third phase are impressed with the activities of the NCDMB.
“To set the records straight, the third phase ex-agitators forum led by me, General Preye Ekpebide, is happy with the programmes, policies and projects of the management of the Board.
“As a forum, we are seeing the far-reaching efforts of the board under the able leadership of its Executive Secretary, Engr. Felix Ogbe, and we commend him for his good works so far,” Ekpebide stated.
He however added that while the third phase would want more inclusion of ex-agitators into the plans of the board, the forum “wouldn’t want to resort to demonstrations to attract the attention of any government body, especially a reputable one like the NCDMB.”
He therefore called on relevant security agencies to arrest and prosecute Elaye for allegedly impersonating his office and causing unrest in and around the Content Tower.
