Olympics Day 10: Oborududu begins quest for gold in wrestling

Blessing Oborududu will compete in the women’s 68kg freestyle wrestling first round at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The 35-year-old is set to face Canada’s Linda Morais at the Champ-de-Mars Arena on Monday.

Oborududu won a silver medal in the category at the Tokyo Olympics.

She was one of Team Nigeria’s two medallists from the COVID-19-ridden Games.

Her victory made her the first Nigerian to win a medal in wrestling in the Olympic games.

She will look to improve her medal to gold when her competition starts by 2:45 pm.

In Athletics, Ezekiel Nathaniel will represent Nigeria in the men’s 400m hurdles by 9:05 am.

One hour later, Chidi Okezie gets a second chance to make the men’s 400m semi-final through the repechage round.

Shortly, Ella Onojuvwevwo and Esther Joseph compete in round one of the women’s 4oom by 10:55 am.

Later in the day, Udodi Onwuzurike comes on for the first round of men’s 200m by 6:55 pm.
