Yenagoa—Comrade Jonathan Lokpobiri has emerged as the new President of the revered Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Worldwide, Mangrovepen.ng has gathered.
Lokpobiri who emerged winner in the keenly contested election in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, defeated other front-line contenders with 47 votes. A former speaker of the IYC Mobile Parliament, Eldred Digimie Pogonyo scored 26 votes, former spokesman, Ebiladei Ekerefe got 14 votes, Benjamin Appah, scored 15 votes and Wisdom Ikuli, 3 votes.
Other aspirants who emerged winners for other offices include Comrade Freedom Atigbi, Deputy President, Miracle Iyaye, Women Leader, Barr. Tamaratonye, National Legal adviser, Comrade Ari Fekorigha, Director of Mobilization and Comrade Amatoru Peremoboere, Treasurer.
Others include Comrade Abiye Bob-Manuel, Deputy Director of Mobilization, Comrade Victor Gow Ayebatari, Financial Secretary, Binebai Princewill, Spokesman and Comrade Maobuye Nangi Obu, Secretary General
The election which was earlier scheduled for Wednesday July 19 was postponed after the former president, Peter Igbifa abandoned the process halfway.
