Yenagoa—Engr. Chief Sokari James Karimo, has been inaugurated as the 11th Chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Yenagoa Branch, alongside other executives.
The investiture ceremony which was themed “Skilled Middle-Level Manpower, Panacea for Poor Infrastructural Development in Bayelsa State of Nigeria” took place on 3rd July 2022.
Engr. Tasui Sa’ad Gidari-Wudil, National President of NSE, who graced the ceremony had earlier paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman, Traditional Rulers Council, Bayelsa State, His Royal Majesty, King Bubaraye Dakolo, Agada IV, the Ibenanaowei of Ekpetiama Kingdom.
Gidari-Wudil who was conferred with the title of “Ibetariowei” by the monarch, also visited the Commissioner of Works, ESV Moses Teibowei in his office.
The commissioner used the visit to inform Gidari-Wudil of his commitment to continuously train and retrain engineers under his ministry.
On his part, the NSE President called for sponsorship of engineers from the State to participate in COREN Assembly and other NSE conferences.
Other executive members who were inaugurated alongside the Chairman include, Engr. Eleunatein Mac Jokori, Vice Chairman, Engr. Seigha Gumus, General Secretary, Engr. Agboun Deborah Assistant Secretary, Engr. (Mrs.) Diepriye Owana-Omubo, Treasurer and Engr. Miebai Tonye, Technical Secretary.
Others are, Engr. Prince Erasmus, Assistant Technical Secretary, Engr. Nelson-Ebimie Nengiyefa, Financial Secretary, Engr. Adou Doubara David, Publicity Secretary, Engr. (Mrs.) Faith E. George Auditor, Engr. Gordon Monday Bubou, Ex-officio I and Engr. Elvis Donkemezuo, Ex-officio II.
Notable personalities who attended the event include Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah (rtd), former Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Rear Admiral Nathan Amaino (rtd) and Engr. Goodluck T. A. Ohwodo, National Vice President, South-South.
His Royal Majesty, King Bubaraye Dakolo, Rev. Fr. Bruno Douglas Ogomu, ESV Moses Teibowei, Gordon Monday Bubou, Engr. Okodugha Dauda Aluyah, Engr. Dr. Bemigho Ofoeyeno, HRH Ayebakuro Eruani Aguda X Obanema of Emadike among other notable personalities also attended the event.
The event also witnessed the induction of new members and the decoration of past Chairmen, including the pioneer chairman, Engr. Dika Moses, Engr. Freddy O. Bonny, Engr. Wodu Ebipamowei, Engr. Raymond Awana, Engr. Aggreh Wilson and the immediate past chairman Engr. Gordon Monday Bubou.
