Bayelsa guber: adopt Lyon as flagbearer, APC ward stakeholders urge state, national leaders

Yenagoa—Some stakeholders of the 105 wards in the Bayelsa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have thrown their weight behind Chief David Lyon in the upcoming primary election of the party.

In a communique released after a meeting in Yenagoa, the state capital, the stakeholders maintained that Lyon has demonstrated an ability to win elections.

The communique which was signed by Chief Hon. Kemebradikumo Owei Theo,
Convener, and Dr. Fidelis Peremobowei, Secretary, averred that Lyon is known to have defeated Senator Douye Diri in the 2019 guber election if not for the Supreme Court verdict that disqualified his deputy due to discrepancies in his certificates.

“Therefore, in our opinion, Chief David Lyon ought to be granted the first option to fly the flag of our great party APC,” the communique reads.

They also passed a vote of confidence on Lyon noting that he is the only credible and transparent aspirant that can fly the party ticket and secure victory in the November 11 guber election.

“Of all the candidates, Chief David Lyon stands the chance of winning at the governorship election if considered as the flagbearer of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“We, therefore, call on critical stakeholders, leadership of our great party at the state and national levels to reconsider Chief David Lyon as the best option to fly the party flag.

“With him, we can restore our stolen mandate from the opposition in the State,” they stated.
