Bayelsa govt confirms agreement to return $954,000 Alamieyeseigha loot

Yenagoa—The United States and the Federal Government have signed an agreement to reinstate $954,000 allegedly stolen by a former governor of Bayelsa State, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, Punch reports.

The agreement was signed on Thursday in Abuja by the US Ambassador to Nigeria, Mary Leonard, and the Solicitor-General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, Beatrice Jedy-Agba.

When contacted by our reporter, the Chief Press Secretary to the Bayelsa State Governor, Mr. Daniel Alabrah confirmed that the state government was also involved in the signing of the agreement.

According to him, “It’s true. We were involved in the process.”
