Herdsmen kill father, son; abduct others in Delta community

Patani—A father and his son were among slain victims as herdsmen invaded Toru-Angiama community in Patani Local Government Area of Delta State.

Daily Report Nigeria gathered that the father identified as Dennis Egbejule and his son were working on the farm when they were attacked.

A source from the community told our correspondent that three dead bodies had been found after the attack, adding that more persons could have fell victims.

The source said;

“Mr Egbejule and his son were working on the farm when the herdsmen came into their farm and started harvesting the crops for their cattle.

“He challenged them to stop the act that he was killed. The son who was running back to the community was chased by the herdsmen and was killed by the village boundary and another man was shot dead.

“As of now, other persons are still held hostage in the bush by the herdsmen. That is all we know for now.”

The source further explained the herdsmen operated the same way in Kabowei kingdom until they were chased out with the help of the military two weeks ago.

He lamented that the inhumane operations of the herders had been on for some time.

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe did not respond to calls put through to his phone as of press time.
