Lagos—South-South people of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State have rallied support for the party’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, and his running mate, Kashim Shettima.
The Nation newspaper reports that the group also roots for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat to contest for a second term in office.
The group consists of Urhobo, Efik, Isoko, Itsekiri, Ogoja, Ibibio, Anang, Ikwerre, Ijaw, Ogoni, Kalabari, Esan, Bini and others.
Leading the rally in Ojokoro, Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Sam Egube, said the group was encouraging people to get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
“Today, we are supporting our in-law, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who is contesting for presidency; our performing governor, and legislative candidates.”
Chairman of Arewa Community in Lagos State Alhaji Sa’adi Yusuf, said: “We are at Ojokoro with our brothers and sisters from Southouth. We have gone round to tell people in West I to obtain their PVCs and vote wisely.”
