Buhari to honour eight Bayelsans, Burna Boy, others

Abuja—A total of eight Bayelsans have been listed by president Muhammadu Buhari among the 437 nominees for the 2022 National Honours Award.

They include the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva who is listed in the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) category, the Amayanabo of Twon Brass, HRM King Alfred Diete-Spiff, listed under the Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) category.

Others are Businessman, Dr. Eruani Azipabu Godbless (CFR category), Dame Julie E. Donli, (OON), Alabo Nengi James (OON), Rt. Hon. Benson Friday Kombowei, (OON), Matthew Seiyefa (MFR), and Chief Benson Agadaga (MON).

Also, Port Harcourt-born music super star, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, professionally known as Burna Boy is listed in the Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) category alongside 74 others.

According to Premium Times, also to be awarded are presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina, the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Ishaq Oloyede, and the Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

The investiture is billed to hold on 11 October at the State House in Abuja.

It was reported that out of the 437 nominees, five persons were listed for Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), 54 for Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR), and 67 for the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON).

Others are 64 for Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR), 101 for Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), 75 for Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR), 56 for Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) and eight for Federal Republic Medal (FRM).
