Yenagoa—Former Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly and immediate past Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Rt. Hon. Friday Konbowei Benson was, on Wednesday, said to have been invited by the Police over a case of alleged certificate forgery.
NaijaliveTv reported that the former Speaker is currently undergoing interrogation at the Bayelsa State Police Headquarters in Yenagoa.
When contacted by a mangrovepen.ng reporter, a close aide to the former SSG debunked news of his arrest.
According to him, “there is no such thing as arrest. As I talk to you, the Rt. Hon. speaker is in his house,” he said.
Benson is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Bayelsa Central Senatorial Candidate for the forthcoming 2023 general election.
