All Nigerian Flags to fly at half-mast in honour of Queen Elizabeth II, says FG

Abuja —The Federal Government has ordered that all flags in the country and missions abroad be flown at half-mast on Sept. 11 and Sept. 12, to honour the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

According to Pulse Nigeria, the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, made this known in a statement on Friday in Abuja.

“We commiserate with the government and the people of the UK and all the affected people of the Commonwealth and the global community.

“The Queen is dead, long live the King,” he said.

Since the death of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday (Sept. 8), commiserations and messages of condolences have poured in from around the world for the British Royal family.

Queen Elizabeth II was the Queen and ceremonial head of the state of the UK and leader of Commonwealth realms from Feb. 6, 1952, until she died in 2022.

Her reign of 70 years and 214 days was the longest of any British monarch and the second-longest recorded of any monarch of a sovereign country.
