Yenagoa—The team coordinator of Dreams Football Academy of Yenagoa, Coach Ada Gwegwe has appealed to the Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri and his Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpor to save the team from pulling out of this year’s National Aiteo Cup competition.
In a statement on Thursday, Gwegwe explained that the football team is desperately in need of a financial bailout to enable it to travel to Enugu on Friday to honour its next Aiteo Cup match against Niger Tornadoes.
The statement noted that the club is also seeking assistance to pay off expenses incurred when it defeated Police Crime Burster FC of Rivers State on Wednesday.
Gwegwe explained that an application letter written through the State Football Association and sent to the office of the Deputy Governor through the Commissioner For Youth and Sports, Hon. Daniel Igali is yet to be approved almost forty-eight hours to the crucial match.
He averred that apart from the cash needed to execute the next match against Niger Tornadoes, the Hotel accommodation bill at Asaba and other outstanding debts incurred need to be cleared.
He appealed to Diri to rescue the team who according to him has done the state proud by advancing to the next round of the competition.
Gwegwe also Commended the State Commissioner for Works, Moses Teibowei and Elder Singabele for their kind donations which enabled the team to travel to prosecute the preliminary stage of the competition against Police Crime Burster Fc.
