Police set up special squad to impound vehicles with unauthorized sirens, amber lights, others in Bayelsa

Yenagoa—The Bayelsa State Police Command has set up a special squad to impound vehicles with unauthorized sirens, amber lights, non-factory-fitted tinted glasses, and covered number plates.

The Police noted that the move has become imperative because of the resurgence of such vehicles plying the roads of Yenagoa and its environs.

A statement by SP Asinim Butswat,
Police Public Relations Officer Bayelsa State Command, revealed that Intelligence at the disposal of the command indicates that such vehicles are being used for committing heinous crimes in the State.

“Owners of such vehicles are advised in their own interests to adhere to extant laws guiding the use of such vehicles to avoid being arrested and their vehicles impounded,” the statement reads.

Butswat noted that the Squad will commence operation on Monday 4th July 2022 with a clear mandate to arrest and impound vehicles with unauthorized sirens, amber lights, covered plate numbers and non-factory-fitted tinted glasses.
