Yenagoa—The Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) has expressed appreciation to Bayelsans and the general public for supporting Governor Douye Diri and the Bayelsa State government in the first half of the year.
The party in a statement titled “Welcome to the 2nd half of 2022” and signed by the state publicity secretary, Ebiye Ogoli appealed to the public to continue their support for the Diri-led government in the second half of 2022.
The party stated that the welfare and wellbeing of Bayelsans will continue to be the policy thrust of the state government, assuring that all sectors of the state’s economy will be prioritized to ensure even development in all communities in the state.
While the party reemphasized the promise made by the governor to execute the Nembe-Brass road project by the expiration of his first tenure in office, the state PDP called on all stakeholders to play their part in making the construction of the road a success.
The statement further commended Diri for his constant inspection and follow-up of the other two senatorial roads under construction in the state.
The party however appealed to contractors of the roads to expedite operations so that the roads would be fully constructed in time for Bayelsans to ply.
“Party wishes to emphasize that from Brass LGA to Yenagoa to Ekeremor LGA, the welfare and well-being of our people would continue to determine the primary purpose and driving force behind Government’s decisions and actions.
“Evidently, we are aware that attention will continue to be paid to every sector of the state’s economy; with the end result being the achievement of an overall, even development of every community in Bayelsa state.
“Our Party wishes to quickly remind that only two days ago, the Prosperity administration reaffirmed its commitment to timeously complete and deliver the newly inaugurated Nembe-Brass Road project by the end of this first tenure.
“This is truly commendable and we call on all stakeholders of this all-important project to play their part to bring this to pass.
“With respect to the other two Senatorial roads, Party appreciates the Miracle Governor, for his genuine efforts in carrying out diligent supervision of work being executed by the Road contractors.
“We take notice of the Governor’s concerns and wish to plead with the Contractors to expedite work to deliver the milestones agreed with Government since the Administration is not owing them. This is so because Bayelsa is in a hurry to develop and nothing should be done to hold us back.
“Truly, never in our history, even at the best of economic times, has Bayelsa state had a Chief Executive, who exudes restlessness about our under-development and projects a bold mindset to take on (headlong) all the myriad of development challenges staring at us as a people.
“And to think that our state presently gets no support from anywhere including the center indeed calls for sober reflection. What we owe our dear Governor today, therefore, is to keep praying for him and his team because if Governor Douye Diri succeeds – Bayelsa succeeds,” the statement reads in part.
The party equally thanked God for the first half of the year and further enjoined Bayelsans to remain law-abiding and go about their daily endeavours peacefully.
