Yenagoa—The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bayelsa State Chapter has congratulated Bayelsans both at home and in the diaspora on the occasion of this year’s Easter celebrations.
The party enjoined Bayelsans to imbibe the virtues of sacrifice, tolerance, forgiveness and love for one another as exemplified by the life of Jesus Christ.
A statement by Mr. Ebiye Agu Ogoli Bayelsa State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, notes that Easter being the most important Christian festival carries with it the great love of God for mankind displayed through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary.
According to the statement, Easter “brings to us, a new dawn of reconciliation, restitution and redemption. Also, significant is the gateway opened for man’s restoration to his original position of authority and glory with a guaranteed pathway for eternal bliss.
“Therefore, with such an overflowing joy in our hearts, our party expresses deep gratitude that our dear state is steadily experiencing the resuscitation of peace, love, brotherhood and friendship in our once estranged communities.
“Today, we see age-long barricades of hatred, enmity, strife, bloody conflicts melting and in their place the erection of friendship, brotherliness and co-operation; all of these ascribable to the vision and painstaking work of the Chief Executive of Bayelsa state, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Douye Diri who never lost hope but relentlessly pursued the birth of a new Bayelsa anchored on peaceful co-existence, tolerance and love amongst its people.”
The statement enjoined Ijaw people to be united stating that “our Ijawness is the priceless identity we can boast and carry about in our Nation.
“For us as members of the PDP – we have solemnly elected to continually espouse and promote these universal ideals of Easter which our Saviour, Jesus Christ lived and died for.”
The PDP commended Governor Douye Diri for showing love and light to everyone irrespective of creed, tribe, or political party affiliation.
