Nembe-Brass road: IYC hails Diri, says Governor has done well so far in office

Yenagoa—The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has hailed the move by Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri to obtain a loan of N30billion to fund the Nembe-Brass road and other projects in the state.

The group stressed that the commitment shown by the state government to commence the construction of the road will encourage the Federal Government and multinational oil films, particularly the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) to buy into the project.

In a statement signed by the Spokesman of the IYC, Com. Ebilade Ekerefe, the IYC commended the leadership of the State House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ngobere of approving the loan proposal without delay.

Ekerefe noted that the Nembe-Brass road will not only benefit the people of Brass but also to oil firm workers residing on the island as the road would throw open aquatic and oil-related business activities.

According to him, the Nembe-Brass road holds significant economic importance that would transform the whole state as both the Brass LNG project and the Brass fertilizer project are all situated in Brass LGA.

While congratulating Governor Douye Diri on his emergence as the Daily Independent Newspaper’s Governor of the Year, Ekerefe noted that it was a well-deserved award.

The IYC stressed that Governor Diri’s passion to deliver good governance to the people of Bayelsa state is replicated in the health sector, education, sports, agriculture, youth engagements, and infrastructural development which is evident.

The Statement further called on all Bayelsans at home and in diaspora, irrespective of the political divide to support Governor Diri in his bid to administer good governance to the people of the state.
