Collins Cocodia Foundation settles medical bills of fire, accident victims in Bayelsa

Yenagoa—The Chairman of the Collins Cocodia Foundation, High Chief Collins Cocodia, has offered to take up the medical bills of 11-year-old Samuel Tonkumoh, who had severe burns from a fire incident a few months ago.

Tonkumoh who is lying critically at the Pediatric Surgical Ward of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), in Yenagoa is a native of Trofani community in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

He was burnt severely in the neck and chest while trying to use a kerosene stove to prepare a meal for himself.

Mangrovepen.ng gathered that the fire incident was due to the use of adulterated kerosene.

The Chairman of the foundation who was at the FMC on Wednesday donated cash to the father of the victim, Chief Tonkumoh Edwin.

High Chief Cocodia, who is also the Special Adviser on Political Matters to the Bayelsa State Governor assured that he will continue to take care of the bills, till he is released from the hospital.

He also donated cash to the hospital for the medical upkeep of 7-year-old Frank Jeffery, from Nembe Local Government Area, who was involved in a car accident last week.

While admonishing the children to be strong, Cocodia wished them a speedy recovery and expressed hope that soonest they will be back at school with their peers.

On their part, Chief Edwin and other family members of both kids thanked Cocodia for wiping their tears and prayed to God to bless him more.

Mrs. Merrisa Sam-Ogoro of the FMC Social Welfare Department and other medical personnel present at the ward equally expressed gratitude to the Collins Cocodia Foundation for putting smiles on the faces of those in need.

They prayed for Cocodia’s continuous success in his life as he adds value to others.
